MUSIC

Music at First Presbyterian Church is a vital part of our worship experience.

Psalm 100 tells us:

“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing!”

CHANCEL CHOIR

Each Sunday, the Chancel Choir leads the congregation in singing traditional hymns and presents a musical offering of their talents with an anthem or occasional solo. Known throughout the community for presenting quality music, the Choir has performed in a variety of venues – fund raising events, Christmas Open House, and has twice performed “The Star Spangled Banner” at Montgomery Biscuits games. For many years, the Chancel Choir has presented a Summer Concert with a mixture of sacred and secular (FUN) music. Past concerts have included music from classic composers, Broadway favorites, and even a little bit of rock. Where else would you hear “O Divine Redeemer” and “Rock Around the Clock” on the same program? The Chancel Choir rehearsal schedule can be found on the HOME page CALENDAR. We welcome and encourage new members. No audition, you do not have to read music, you don’t even have to be Presbyterian. The only requirement is the desire to make a joyful noise unto the Lord! If you are interested in joining us, drop by the Choir Room on Sunday morning or contact our Director, Robert Lamborne choirdirector@fpcalexcity.net for more information.

HANDCHIMES

After a several year hiatus, our Handchime Choir is back. Similar to a handbell, a handchime is an aluminum square tube designed for easier handling and durability. The Handchime Choir rehearsal schedule can be found on the HOME page CALENDAR. and we will present numbers during the worship service from time to time throughout the church year. Participation is open to all. Contact the church office or better yet, visit a rehearsal for more information.
