Sunday Worship

Our worship style is very traditional. The hymns we sing have stood the test of time and will, hopefully, be familiar. In a world that often feels casual and loud, traditional worship creates a "sacred space"  that feels set apart from the ordinary. Interestingly, many Gen Z and Millennials are seeking high-church traditions as a way to find a faith that feels "sturdier" than modern culture. We also include a YOUTH MOMENT and a nursery is available with someone to tend.

So we invite you to come and find ground you can stand on. The familiar flow of our liturgy--the confession, the readings, the blessing--provides a spiritual structure that holds you even when your own life feels chaotic. (Meets Sunday at 11 AM)

Nixburg Presbyterian

Nixburg Presbyterian Church played a large part in the forming of First Presbyterian Church - Alexander City.

From "The First Presbyterian Church, Celebrating 100 years" by Sandra Scott Wilson:

"In 1890 the Reverend Paul C. Morton in his evangelistic fast-growing community and by rights should have a regular preaching evangelist for the 'limited field' consisting of Tuskegee, Calebee, Hatchett Creek, Mount Pisgah, Nixburg, Unity and the mission points in Macon County, Coosa County and Tallapoosa County. Limited Field!"

Several years passed and on March 2, 1893, a home church was established for the South Alabama Presbytery and eventually the church was born out of (the) Nixburg church.

Because Nixburg Presbyterian played a large role in helping to establish our church, we have what we call "Nixburg Heritage Sunday" at the church in Nixburg. We begin with 'old timey' hymn signing, reading scripture, praying and finally a potluck lunch served outside. This Sunday is always on the first Sunday in May.
